For a complete list of licensed wildlife rehabilitators in North Carolina, go to the North Carolina Wildlife Rehabilitators page. This page is updated by the state as new permits are issued. Click on the link "Contact A Wildlife Rehabilitator", and pick your county from the drop down list. If you need further assistance locating a licensed rehabber, please fill out the form below.
If you are in the Raleigh area, you may call the Wildlife Welfare Information Hot Line for a listing of rehabbers in the area: 387-1662.

You may also call the North Carolina Wildlife Commission at 919-707-0050, Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. After those hours you can try North Carolina Wildlife Enforcement at 919-707-0040 or 1-800-662-7137, give the dispatcher the city you are calling from, the type of animal you have and they can give you a listing of rehabbers in your area.
If you are in the Chapel Hill area, you can contact CLAWS. Link will open in a new window. Their phone number is 919-619-0776. Only call after 6pm if it is an emergency.
If you are in the Raleigh area and cannot find a licensed wildlife rehabilitator to take the injured/orphaned baby you have found, you can also drop it off at After Hours Small Animal Emergency Clinic of Wake County. Link will open in a new window.

They are open weekdays from 5:30pm until 8:00am the following morning, on weekends from Friday at 5:30pm until the following Monday at 8:00am and on holidays when the regular veterinarian offices are closed. They are located at 409 Vick Avenue in Raleigh and their phone number is 781-5145 if you need to call for directions.

You can drop off the baby/babies that you have found there no charge to you and they will call a list of licensed wildlife rehabilitators that they have and someone will come and pick them up.
If you have found a bird, you can contact the Piedmont Wildlife Center at 919-572-9453. They are located off of I-40 between Raleigh and Durham. You will have to call for directions. For more information you can go to their website Piedmont Wildlife Center. Link will open in a new window.
