You may also call the North Carolina Wildlife Commission at 919-707-0050, Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. After those hours you can try North Carolina Wildlife Enforcement at 919-707-0040 or 1-800-662-7137, give the dispatcher the city you are calling from, the type of animal you have and they can give you a listing of rehabbers in your area.
If you are in the Triangle area and have found a small mammal, you may call the Wildlife Welfare Information Hot Line for a listing of rehabbers in the area: 919-387-1662, or visit their website.
If you are in the Triangle area and have found a songbird, you will need to contact CLAWS. Link will open in a new window. Their phone number is 919-619-0776. Only call after 6pm if it is an emergency.
If you are in the Raleigh area and cannot find a licensed wildlife rehabilitator to take the injured/orphaned baby you have found, you can also drop it off at Animal Emergency Hospital & Urgent Care. Link will open in a new window. They are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They are located at 409 Vick Avenue in Raleigh and their phone number is 781-5145 if you need to call for directions. You can drop off the baby/babies that you have found there no charge to you and they will call a list of licensed wildlife rehabilitators that they have and someone will come and pick them up.

They do service all of eastern North Carolina, so see the service area map on their website to see if they service where you live.
