It is almost the end of another baby season and I have asked some of the Squirrel Connections to share some of the photos from this year. I will be posting the pictures as they send them in. Even though this is a squirrel page, as rehabbers we are not just limited to squirrels, so you may see some other baby pictures besides squirrels on here.

| Ever wonder how we feed our baby squirrels? Well thanks to Anita you have a good idea of how we do it. They are always fed in the natural position that they would feed in if their mom were feeding them. Here are 2 pictures from 2 different angles. We use a special rubber nipple on the end of the syringe with the needle removed. As you can see, they take the whole nipple in their mouths. |

| Thanks to the Alabama Squirrel Connection for sending the photos of the first squirrel that she got in on July 4th this year. He was later released in her yard. He does still try to come and steal peanuts on occasion. She says that he is a very special squirrel. Sometimes we do get in some that are more special than others for one reason or another and he is certainly a special squirrel. | |

| Thanks to Sheila for sending in this photo of "Dale" at the young age of 38 days old and has had her eyes open for one week. The container she is in is what we use to weigh the babies in. We do this on a daily basis so that we can make sure they are gaining weight. |

| Sheila wanted to share some updated pictures of Dale, 7 months old, now that she has been released. Dale had been living in her daughters' treehouse which they had built in a huge Pecan tree in the back pasture of their home. Well Dale decided to go out exploring and did not come home for 2 days. One day while Sheila was at the barn, some 5 acres away from the treehouse, Dale came in the barn door where Sheila was having a barn sale. Sheila looked at her and said "Dale?" Immediately Dale took that as an invitation to come and get on "momma." Sheila thinks that perhaps she had gone off and got lost and heard her speaking and came to find her. Now Dale is back home in her treehouse until the day comes that she strikes out on her own again. | |

| Thanks to Elaine, one of the Texas Squirrel Connections, for sharing her pictures of "Rambo." She received him when he was 6 weeks of age and he was released back into the wild at the age of 15 weeks. In the picture on the left, he is getting one of his rare treats of CoolWhip and he is 3 years of age in that photo. In the photo on the right, he is begging for a pecan and is 5 years old in that photo which was taken last year. Elaine says that he is still around begging today. He received his name of "Rambo" because when he came in at the age of 6 weeks, he was hissing and making such a fuss that the name seemed to fit him. | |
