| Thanks to Elaine, one of the Texas Squirrel Connections, for sharing her pictures of 2 baby fox squirrels she received. These babies fell 25 feet onto concrete. The photo on the left is when they were 2 weeks old. The photo on the right is when they were 4 weeks of age. Surprisingly enough, a lot of these babies will survive a fall of that distance. I have received a lot of babies that have fallen onto concrete and all of them survived to be released. This is not to say that all of them make it, but most do. It is a matter of them getting to a rehabber as soon as possible after the fall. | |

| Many thanks to Bobbie Binns from Georgia for sharing these great photos of Southern Flying Squirrels. They were between 3 and 4 weeks of age when they were brought to her on December 22, 1999. The tree they were in had been struck my lightning. They weighed in at 15 and 20 grams with the smaller one being the silver colored one. In all her years of doing Flying Squirrels, she has never seen any this particular color variation before. You can see a real good closeup in the pictures below of these 2 Southern Flying Squirrels. |

| Thanks to Elaine, one of the Texas Squirrel Connections, for sharing these pictures of "Lightning" and "Baby Boy." "Lightning" on the left, was so named as she was the only one that survived after the tree that she and her siblings were in was struck by lightning. When she came in she was in really bad shape, her eyes had not yet opened and she had a burn on her chest. She was released in July 1999 and is the only Grey that still comes back for pecans. "Baby Boy" on the right, was just released in November of 1999. He comes up and helps himself to the bucket of pecans that Elaine keeps outside for them. She says that thanks to "Baby Boy" and the other squirrels she has pecan trees coming up everywhere. | |
