| Thanks to Sally Beckwith, a widlife rehabilitator in Massachusetts, for sharing the photos and story of this cute little coyote pup that she received on April 17, 2000. The mother was killed carrying this puppy across a road. The den site was not located so the other siblings probably died. She is 4 weeks old in these photos. She is eating meat and demonstrating dominance behavior by pinning her litter-mate to the floor with her chest and "werewolf" snarles. Her sibling/denmate at this point is a fake lambswool animal about her size and it is certainly the submissive one now (grin). Sally is still looking for another coyote pup to raise her with, but the time for doing this is running short for the behavioral/socialization period that happens between 6-8 weeks of age. Domestic puppies would be the second shoice, but no foster age puppies are anywhere to be found. Her growth and development rate is phenomenal! The coyote pup I see at the last feeding at night is NOT the coyote pup I find in the morning. She gaines 100+/- grams a day (average) and a clumsy movement one day is perfected by the next day. She still does a "Bambi" type splat when she leaps up and pounces though. Sally has already started working with her in the woods where she will be released. |

| Thanks to Sally Beckwith, for sharing some updated photos of the baby coyote that she got on April 17th. She did get some others to go with the original one that she had, so they could all be raised as a group instead of individually. | |
